One of our primary goals at LCAD is to help you make a smooth transition to college. It is our aim to assist you in finding housing that suits your needs. As a means to this end, we provide services and resources that aid you in this process.
OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING COORDINATOR
Our Off-Campus Housing Coordinator assists students in their searches for off-campus housing. The coordinator provides listings of houses, apartments, rooms in houses, guesthouses, and other rooms for rent in Laguna Beach and its surrounding communities. Written materials such as a housing survey and student housing brochure are available only to students who have deposited through the Admissions Office. The surveys and the coordinator are particularly helpful in both your search for suitable housing and in connecting you with potential roommates. Smart tactics—such as surfing known websites—can give you an edge in the hunt for a rental. When searching for apartments online, search in the South and Central Orange County areas. Our brochures provide website addresses, housing rate estimates and other housing resources.
If you have your own transportation, you have more options regarding where you choose to live. If you do not have your own means of transportation, your housing search should be convenient to bus stops. The OCTA (Orange County Transportation Authority) bus stops in front of LCAD. You can check the web site at www.octa.net for information or call 714.560.OCTA for general information and 714.636.RIDE for bus routing information.
Laguna Beach is one of the most desirable beach resorts on California’s coast; therefore, rental rates can be higher than in other US locations. The best time to begin your search is a month to six weeks prior to arriving at LCAD. To familiarize yourself with the area, please visit

RESIDENCE HALL – Full for 2018-19
Located at 787 Laguna Canyon Road, the South Campus Residence Hall* is 3/4 of a mile from Main Campus, and walking distance to downtown Laguna Beach’s shopping, dining, and boardwalk. The Residence Hall accommodates 56 students.
All apartment-style units come fully furnished, as Laguna College of Art + Design provides the following amenities per suite:
paid utilities (electric, gas, water, trash)
single lofted bed for each resident (standard size twin mattress provided)
dresser for each resident
kitchen cabinets, table and chairs
desk and chair for each resident
couch in common area
refrigerator and range
LCAD provides the following in the Residence Hall Common Room / Studio:
big screen television with free cable service
large work table and chairs
two upholstered chairs
two end tables
LCAD provides the following in the Laundry Room:
Four coin operated washer/dryer units
Parking for Residence Hall occupants is available
*LCAD does not allow pets in the Residence Hall. This includes service animals.
Housing cost for the 2018-2019 academic year is $9900. All housing contracts are for the entire academic year.
1. Complete and submit your Enrollment Agreement form and $250 Tuition Deposit. Must be an accepted student in order to complete this step. Please, contact your Admissions Counselor for more information.
2. Complete and submit an initial LCAD Housing Application
3. Submit a security/damage deposit check for $600 ($400 will be applied towards the cost of housing when selections are made. $200 will be held as a damage deposit that will be refunded at check-out if the unit is vacated clean and damage free).

Each fall, priority will be given to new entering first time freshman currently residing outside of a 100-mile radius of the campus. If you live within 100 miles of Laguna, you may still apply for consideration. If you are offered a space and decline, you forfeit your deposit. Deposits will only be returned to students who are not offered a space. Selected residents will be guaranteed housing only for the 2018-2019 academic year.
Supervised by the Assistant Dean of Students and Resident Managers, the LCAD Housing Program promotes communal living in a small apartment complex. Roommates and units will be assigned based on questions and requests on the Roommate Questionnaire. Assigned roommates will coordinate cleaning, grocery buying/sharing, cooking, decorating, carpooling, and the frequency of guests. This experience strengthens life skills such as adaptation, transition, and compromise. Residents are expected to maintain the highest level of conduct. Failure to comply with all LCAD and LCAD Housing regulations will result in removal from the housing program, without compensation or refund. The LCAD Housing Program is more than just a place to live. It is a place where you learn, grow, and make a difference.

Housing Deadline: May 1st
Those students who live beyond a 100-mile radius from Laguna Beach will be informed of their housing decision by April 15th. Those who applied but live within a 100-mile radius will be informed of their housing status after May 1st.
Please note: The deposit does not secure students a space in the Residence Hall. Deposits will be returned to those who are not offered a space. Thank you
